Mattie Miracle Walk & Family Festival 2020

Join Us for Our Virtual Walk Challenge

May 17, 2020

10:00am - 12:00pm

Where? On Mattie Miracle's Facebook Page!

Mattie Miracle needs your help more than ever this year! The City of Alexandria has canceled our Walk & Family Festival due to the impact of the Coronavirus. As you and your family face this national and global health crisis please know that our thoughts go out to you and your family. May you stay healthy and safe.

Unfortunately, childhood cancer does not take a break for a pandemic. The psychosocial consequences on children and their families are even greater now, as families have to worry about rescheduling treatment, the postponement of surgery, and being isolated from one another while in the hospital. Mattie Miracle's work is vital, and we are unable to fund our programs and initiatives without your support.

Here's How It Will Work This Year:

  • There is no physical event. The Walk and raffle are virtual.
  • Everyone registers as a virtual walker (individual or team).
  • Individuals and Teams will compete for top fundraising awards.
  • You can still sponsor, donate, and purchase raffle tickets on-line.
  • Top three registered walkers on May 17th will receive a prize.

New this year, the top three registered walkers with the greatest number of steps (on May 17th only) will win a prize. Walkers must track their steps (at home, outside, in your backyard, etc) using a step counter/activity tracker, and post a photo of the total step count by noon, May 17th, on the Mattie Miracle Facebook page.

1st Prize: Air Pods Pro

Why Walk?

The Walk and Family Festival is designed to enhance awareness of the psychological and social needs of children and families battling childhood cancer.  Our goal is to raise $100,000. The Walk raises 85% of our budget which covers the cost of our psychosocial programs and services.  These funds are not used for administrative or operating costs of the Foundation.

Mike Grusholt Memorial Corn Hole Tournament
Play as an individual and raise funds for Mattie Miracle. First place winner receives a brand new pair of AirPods Pro!  There are awesome prizes for 2nd and 3rd place!
Psychosocial Initiative Wall Challenge
The more laps you complete around the track, the closer we get to funding our new initiative to create a psychological referrals program for children with cancer.  This referrals program will enable Mattie Miracle to connect qualified clinicians with children who have cancer and their families.  The program will be designed to support the mental health needs of families as well as fund access to these services.
New Activities this Year
High Voltage Grinder (an incredible obstacle inflatable course), the Funny Farm themed moon bounce, a caricaturist, a face painter and balloon animal artist, and a Reptiles Alive Show (a live exotic animal show, followed by a meet and greet with the animals).

Food Trucks!
We are pleased to announce this year that we will have several food trucks on site to provide food for sale.  We thank DC Empanadas, Big Cheese, Rocklands, and Hershery's Ice Cream for supporting our cause!
